In early 2015, probably late January, Louisville Mega Cavern will open a new indoor, well, 75 feet underground indoor, bike park. It will feature 320,000 square feet of everything from BMX dirt jumps/pump track to very wide mountain bike single track. Recently Mega Cavern put out a callout looking for photographers to come in and photograph some riders for their marketing needs. I was fortunate enough to get in on this exclusive access.
It’s hard to imagine the size of this park until you are actually there, it is just massive! Lead trail builder and former BMX pro, Joe Prisel was on hand leading the riding charge as we photographed riders taking on the jumps. It was a fun filled few hours photographing the BMX and mountain bike riders pulling off some amazing jumps and stunts. My only regret is I didn’t have enough time to really check out the other 2/3’rds of the space where more of the single track resides. All I can say is I will have to get back down there with my bike and check them out via the saddle. I would definitely recommend putting this park on your must ride list!
